“We have stayed in ‘Marco Pierre Whites’ hotel in Liverpool and we thought The Cathedral Hotel was on par for accommodation but the food HERE was much BETTER well done!”

“Unpretentious hotel with rooms way above usual 2* standard”
Location: Excellent location in the heart of Salisbury within 1 minute's walk of the Market Place and 3-5 minutes from the cathedral.
Layout: Downstairs is basically a large pub plus dining room and breakfast room. Guesta are given keys to unlick the hotel area whether going up by lift or stairs. This is to protect the hotel area on Thursday-Saturday nights when the place stays open late and acts as a popular night spot.
Complaints: I noticed that all the compaints of TripAdvisor seemed to be made by people who stayed at weekends and complained about the noise. The hotel is very up front about this, and even states on their confirmations that it is noisy Thursday-Saturday nights, but quiet at other times. If you want a quiet night, don't stay there at weekends.
Rooms: Comfortable, well refurbished and fit for purpose, well above 2* standard. They also offer good vaue for money and give double rooms for single occupancy at single rates when not full.
Service: Charming and firndly throughout.
Breakfast: The only disappointment. Maybe I stayed when a new breakfast cook was starting. I like individually cooked breakfast but this was bizarre, with hideous sausages (what meat are they?...not pork I suspect) and everything else griddled to death, presenting a curiously stripey offering. I don't often leave half my breakfast...I did this time. Now I know not to have cooked next time..
That aside the rest of the stay offered a good experince and I would certainly go back.

Mother-of-the Groom - thats me. We arrived Friday afternoon and left Sunday morning - ALL the staff were extremely helpful taking our bags to our rooms etc. nothing was too much trouble. My bedroom was immaculate and extremely well decorated with everything I needed. There were very generous supplies of T&C and biscuits in the bedroom. The rooms were incredibly hot on the 3rd floor but there were a plentiful supply of oscillating fans we could use. The bed & breakfast was superb value for money with plenty of choices at breakfast time. All the staff have to be commended for their helpfullness and friendliness. The hotel is ideally situated near to the main market place of Salisbury and the train station - all easy walking distance - its just a shame they dont have any car parking at the hotel, other than that, brilliant - I would highly recommend this hotel, which is very reasonably priced - its exceptionally good value for money. I will stay again.

We stayed here for one night only for a Saturday, from the moment we booked we were made aware of the late night disco that would take place, we received 2 emails confirming our booking and pointing out there would be noise so we were made fully aware of what to expect. There was noise so if you want a quiet Saturday night break this is not the place for you!
Otherwise I would not hesitate in recommending the hotel, it is in a good central location, very clean, staff were welcoming. The restaurant food was excellent, good choice on the breakfast menu so no complaints at all.

Very nice hotel near the town center. The welcome was warm ( thank you Suzie for the tip of the " Old Mill" and your help with the luggage ) and friendly. The Family room was very nice and there was space enough for 3 guests.. The bathroom is a bit small but for taking a shower it was ok. We had no noise although we had a night from Thursday to Friday. The beergarden and the pub were great and food there is good.

We recently spent a night at this delightful hotel in Salisbury. We booked a three bed room and were very happy to find it quite spacious, with very comfortable beds, lovely soft white sheets, and a well appointed ensuite. The staff were really helpful and friendly, the meals were great - a lovely cooked breakfast was included in the price and we also had dinner there which was also very good. Our room was on the street but we had no problems with noise. The hotel is right in the town and just a short walk away from the wonderful Salisbury Cathedral (the Magna Carta is found in the building next to the Cathedral). We arrived at Salisbury by train and took a bus tour to Stonehenge (which leaves from the train station). The Cathedral Hotel is a 10 minute walk from the train station but the tour bus dropped us off in town close to the hotel after the tour. We came to Salisbury to do the 2 day Clarendon Way walk to Winchester (24 miles) and were very happy that we had chosen the Cathedral Hotel. Apart from the great service and facillities, it is on the road where our walk commenced! Highly recommended hotel.

My wife and I found the Cathedral Hotel delightful, with a modern yet relaxing feel. The attentiveness and friendliness of all the staff I was beginning to think had been lost on most hotels, but we found it alive and kicking at the Cathedral Hotel.
The facilities were also exceptionally good. I wouldn't describe myself as much of a football fan, however I did fancy watching one of the few games I watch each year, the FA cup. I was surprised to find that our hotel had a great screen to watch the football on as well as a further two T.V.s in the bar area. There was a third televison in a quieter part of the ground floor that staff had not put on respectfully catering for anyone who just wanted a quiet meal or coffee. These wonderful facilities were completely understated with no advertising outside the hotel mentioning that the game was on or even that they had televisions. Again this was thoughtfulness on behalf of the management team making sure that they attracted the "right type of customer" and looked after the residents of the hotel first and foremost.
The room we stayed in was roomy and decorated so well you felt you were in a far grander hotel. Overall the Cathedral Hotel was a lucky find in the centre of Salisbury that had far more to offer than I had been expecting.

I have previously stayed her with my husband last year. I spent 2 nights there with a friend of mine this month for a birthday treat for her. The hotel is still 'as good as new', the staff welcoming, and for two women by themselves we felt extremely safe and secure. We used the hotel as a central, convenient base to explore all that salisbury has to offer.

I can only agree with comments already made. Superb location in City Centre, only five minutes’ walk from the outstanding cathedral and riverside walk. Hotel staff & service outstanding – 10 out of 10! All staff on duty during the weekend did everything they could to make our stay as enjoyable as possible.
Breakfast included in the very competitive room rate offered an excellent breakfast bar supplemented with a similarly excellent breakfast menu offering everything from the Standard English to the more exotic Smoked Salmon with scrambled or poached eggs, both offering substantial portions.
My wife & I spent a Friday and Saturday night and we had also received the same rather ominous e-mail regarding weekend noise, but we were on the third floor and with secondary glazing we were not disturbed at all by any noise. A small problem was that the first night was very unusually (for the time of year) warm and this made the room rather stifling having to keep all windows closed because of possible noise problem. Large ceiling fan wasn’t really enough to cool the room sufficiently. The owners are aware of this problem, but if we have a hot summer, it would be worth checking arrangements in advance.
But we have no hesitation in recommending the hotel.

Excellent customer service. Great service at check-in, and when I had a problem with my TV, it was sorted out immediately. Staff very friendly and helpful. Room was clean and bed was comfortable. Bathroom a decent size for a city hotel. Room was hot, but ceiling fan provided. I expected lots of noise outside (esp when I saw the earplugs in the room!!) but it was quiet (it was midweek).
